OUR VISION

 

Our vision is simple = ES2!  ES2 stands for Every Student in Every School reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ in Alaska.  As a part of a network of churches globally in the Assemblies of God we locally and nationally desire to see our churches eclipse one million students by the year 2015, the beginning of the 2nd Century of the Assemblies of God.


The American Church is winning, building and sending more youth than ever. We believe God is calling for more young disciplined followers of Jesus Christ, filled with the Holy Spirit, anchored in the Word of God, forged in the character of Christ and championing the kingdom of God as lifelong, productive members of the Body and the cause of Christ. We are Dreaming2015.

 

OUR STRATEGY

We equip the Church to CONNECT students with

  • God - key to an authentic faith
  • Family - key to a lived-out faith
  • Church - key to a perpetuating faiths
  • Christ's cause - key to a meaningful and rewarding faith

 

We equip the Church to CONSTRUCT Biblical DISCIPLINES in students. Jesus taught that disciples love God first and love others as themselves (Mt. 22:37, 39). We teach five values of Jesus that characterize such love:


  • Pray regularly (in the Spirit)
  • Live the Word
  • Tell the story
  • Serve people
  • Give generously

 

We equip the Church with ministries, resources, and events that CATALYZE the cause of Jesus Christ.

  • Alaska Outreach
  • Momentum (youth leader development)

  • FIRE BIBLE Student Edition (study Bible with campus missions connections)
  • Alive In Christ (new believer resource and studies)
  • Byond  (small group and/or daily devotional studies)

The Church's mandate to win, build, send in youth ministry is not just a call to leaders for students. It is just as much a call for "students in ministry" (2 Cor. 5:18-21). Youth ministry is just as much about what students do, as it is what others do for students. Therefore, the ministries, resources and events of AKYM equip leaders of students as well as the students themselves.
